Dear future GVFD volunteer, 

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Gray Volunteer Fire Department. Our department has a review and selection process for membership, which begins with an informal conversation and an invitation to visit with one of our officers at the station.  This is an opportunity for us to learn about you and what you can contribute, as well as you having the opportunity to ask questions of us.  

Because we are a 100% volunteer department, we rely on the valuable contributions and services of all of our members.  You don't have to be a firefighter if you don't want to.  You can volunteer in other ways - such as helping with office and cleaning duties, community events, fire prevention education, and public outreach.  We really do have jobs for everyone, and every job is very important. 

The volunteer service has levels of expectations of each member to be professional, courteous, and have a calling to serve the community. Every member must be able to commit to training and operational duties as agreed upon, which will vary from firefighters to admin support volunteers.
